المسد

Al-Masad (The Palm Fibre)

The Surah takes its name from the word Lahab in the first verse.

Al-Masad
تَبَّتْ Perish
يَدَآ (the) hands
أَبِى (of) Abu
لَهَبٍ Lahab
وَتَبَّ and perish he.
2
Al-Masad
مَآ Not
أَغْنَىٰ (will) avail
عَنْهُ him
مَالُهُۥ his wealth
وَمَا and what
كَسَبَ he earned.
3
Al-Masad
سَيَصْلَىٰ He will be burnt
نَارًا (in) a Fire
ذَاتَ of
لَهَبٍ Blazing Flames,
4
Al-Masad
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ And his wife,
حَمَّالَةَ (the) carrier
ٱلْحَطَبِ (of) firewood,
5
Al-Masad
فِى In
جِيدِهَا her neck
حَبْلٌ (will be) a rope
مِّن of
مَّسَدٍۭ palm-fiber.
