Al-Furqaan
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He
ٱلَّذِى Who
نَزَّلَ sent down
ٱلْفُرْقَانَ the Criterion
عَلَىٰ upon
عَبْدِهِۦ His slave
لِيَكُونَ that he may be
لِلْعَٰلَمِينَ to the worlds
نَذِيرًا a warner -
Surah 25 77 verses
الفرقان
Al-Furqaan (The Criterion)
The Surah takes its name "Al-Furqan" from the first verse. Though it is symbolic like the names of many other Surahs, it has a close relation to its subject matter.

Al-Furqaan
ٱلَّذِى The One Who -
لَهُۥ to Him (belongs)
مُلْكُ (the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth,
وَلَمْ and not
يَتَّخِذْ He has taken
وَلَدًا a son,
وَلَمْ and not
يَكُن He has
لَّهُۥ for Him
شَرِيكٌ a partner
فِى in
ٱلْمُلْكِ the dominion
وَخَلَقَ and He (has) created
كُلَّ every
شَىْءٍ thing,
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ and determined it
تَقْدِيرًا (with) determination.

Al-Furqaan
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ Yet they have taken
مِن besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him
ءَالِهَةً gods
لَّا not
يَخْلُقُونَ they create
شَيْـًٔا anything,
وَهُمْ while they
يُخْلَقُونَ are created,
وَلَا and not
يَمْلِكُونَ they possess
لِأَنفُسِهِمْ for themselves
ضَرًّا any harm
وَلَا and not
نَفْعًا any benefit,
وَلَا and not
يَمْلِكُونَ they control
مَوْتًا death
وَلَا and not
حَيَوٰةً life
وَلَا and not
نُشُورًا resurrection.

Al-Furqaan
وَقَالَ And say
ٱلَّذِينَ those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieve,
إِنْ "Not
هَٰذَآ this
إِلَّآ (is) but
إِفْكٌ a lie,
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ he invented it
وَأَعَانَهُۥ and helped him
عَلَيْهِ at it
قَوْمٌ people
ءَاخَرُونَ other."
فَقَدْ But verily,
جَآءُو they (have) produced
ظُلْمًا an injustice
وَزُورًا and a lie.

Al-Furqaan
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they say,
أَسَٰطِيرُ "Tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former people
ٱكْتَتَبَهَا which he has had written
فَهِىَ and they
تُمْلَىٰ are dictated
عَلَيْهِ to him
بُكْرَةً morning
وَأَصِيلًا and evening."
