An-Naml (The Ant)

The Surah takes its name from the phrase wad-in-naml which occurs in verse 18, implying that it is a Surah in which the story of An-Naml (the Ant) has been related.

طسٓ Ta Seen.

تِلْكَ These

ءَايَٰتُ (are the) Verses

ٱلْقُرْءَانِ (of) the Quran

وَكِتَابٍ and a Book

مُّبِينٍ clear

هُدًى A guidance

وَبُشْرَىٰ and glad tidings

لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ for the believers,

ٱلَّذِينَ Those who

يُقِيمُونَ establish

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer

وَيُؤْتُونَ and give

ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ zakah

وَهُم and they

بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter

هُمْ [they]

يُوقِنُونَ believe with certainty.

إِنَّ Indeed,

ٱلَّذِينَ those who

لَا (do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ believe

بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter,

زَيَّنَّا We have made fair-seeming

لَهُمْ to them

أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ their deeds,

فَهُمْ so they

يَعْمَهُونَ wander blindly.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones,

لَهُمْ for them

سُوٓءُ (is) an evil

ٱلْعَذَابِ [the] punishment

وَهُمْ and they

فِى in

ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ the Hereafter

هُمُ [they]

ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ (will be) the greatest losers.
