Al-Maaida (The Table)
This Surah takes its' name from verse 112 in which the word mai'dah occurs. Like the names of many other surahs, this name has no special relation to the subject of the Surah but has been used merely as a symbol to distinguish it from other surahs.

Al-Maaida
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O
ٱلَّذِينَ you (who)
ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe!
أَوْفُوا۟ Fulfil
بِٱلْعُقُودِ the contracts.
أُحِلَّتْ Are made lawful
لَكُم for you
بَهِيمَةُ the quadruped
ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ (of) the grazing livestock
إِلَّا except
مَا what
يُتْلَىٰ is recited
عَلَيْكُمْ on you,
غَيْرَ not
مُحِلِّى being permitted
ٱلصَّيْدِ (to) hunt
وَأَنتُمْ while you
حُرُمٌ (are in) Ihram.
إِنَّ Indeed,
ٱللَّهَ Allah
يَحْكُمُ decrees
مَا what
يُرِيدُ He wills.

Al-Maaida
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O
ٱلَّذِينَ you (who)
ءَامَنُوا۟ believe!
لَا (Do) not
تُحِلُّوا۟ violate
شَعَٰٓئِرَ (the) rites
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah,
وَلَا and not
ٱلشَّهْرَ the month,
ٱلْحَرَامَ the sacred,
وَلَا and not
ٱلْهَدْىَ the sacrificial animals
وَلَا and not
ٱلْقَلَٰٓئِدَ the garlanded
وَلَآ and not
ءَآمِّينَ (those) coming
ٱلْبَيْتَ (to) the House,
ٱلْحَرَامَ the Sacred,
يَبْتَغُونَ seeking
فَضْلًا Bounty
مِّن of
رَّبِّهِمْ their Lord
وَرِضْوَٰنًا and good pleasure.
وَإِذَا And when
حَلَلْتُمْ you come out of Ihram
فَٱصْطَادُوا۟ then (you may) hunt.
وَلَا And let not
يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ incite you
شَنَـَٔانُ (the) hatred
قَوْمٍ (for) a people
أَن as
صَدُّوكُمْ they stopped you
عَنِ from
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ Al-Masjid
ٱلْحَرَامِ Al-Haraam
أَن that
تَعْتَدُوا۟ you commit transgression.
وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ And help one another
عَلَى in
ٱلْبِرِّ [the] righteousness
وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ and [the] piety,
وَلَا but (do) not
تَعَاوَنُوا۟ help one another
عَلَى in
ٱلْإِثْمِ [the] sin
وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ and [the] transgression.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear
ٱللَّهَ Allah;
إِنَّ indeed,
ٱللَّهَ Allah
شَدِيدُ (is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ (in) [the] punishment.

Al-Maaida
حُرِّمَتْ Are made unlawful
عَلَيْكُمُ on you
ٱلْمَيْتَةُ the dead animals,
وَٱلدَّمُ and the blood,
وَلَحْمُ and flesh
ٱلْخِنزِيرِ (of) the swine,
وَمَآ and what
أُهِلَّ has been dedicated
لِغَيْرِ to other than
ٱللَّهِ Allah,
بِهِۦ [on it],
وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُ and that which is strangled (to death),
وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُ and that which is hit fatally,
وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ and that which has a fatal fall,
وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ and that which is gored by horns,
وَمَآ and that which
أَكَلَ ate (it)
ٱلسَّبُعُ the wild animal
إِلَّا except
مَا what
ذَكَّيْتُمْ you slaughtered,
وَمَا and what
ذُبِحَ is sacrificed
عَلَى on
ٱلنُّصُبِ the stone altars,
وَأَن and that
تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟ you seek division
بِٱلْأَزْلَٰمِ by divining arrows -
ذَٰلِكُمْ that
فِسْقٌ (is) grave disobedience.
ٱلْيَوْمَ This day
يَئِسَ (have) despaired
ٱلَّذِينَ those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved
مِن of
دِينِكُمْ your religion,
فَلَا so (do) not
تَخْشَوْهُمْ fear them,
وَٱخْشَوْنِ but fear Me.
ٱلْيَوْمَ This day
أَكْمَلْتُ I have perfected
لَكُمْ for you
دِينَكُمْ your religion
وَأَتْمَمْتُ and I have completed
عَلَيْكُمْ upon you
نِعْمَتِى My Favor
وَرَضِيتُ and I have approved
لَكُمُ for you
ٱلْإِسْلَٰمَ [the] Islam
دِينًا (as) a religion.
فَمَنِ But whoever
ٱضْطُرَّ (is) forced
فِى by
مَخْمَصَةٍ hunger
غَيْرَ (and) not
مُتَجَانِفٍ inclining
لِّإِثْمٍ to sin,
فَإِنَّ then indeed,
ٱللَّهَ Allah
غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving,
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful.

Al-Maaida
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ They ask you
مَاذَآ what
أُحِلَّ (is) made lawful
لَهُمْ for them.
قُلْ Say,
أُحِلَّ "Are made lawful
لَكُمُ for you
ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ the good things
وَمَا and what
عَلَّمْتُم you have taught
مِّنَ of
ٱلْجَوَارِحِ (your) hunting animals,
مُكَلِّبِينَ ones who train animals to hunt,
تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ you teach them
مِمَّا of what
عَلَّمَكُمُ has taught you
ٱللَّهُ Allah.
فَكُلُوا۟ So eat
مِمَّآ of what
أَمْسَكْنَ they catch
عَلَيْكُمْ for you,
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ but mention
ٱسْمَ (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ on it,
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ and fear
ٱللَّهَ Allah.
إِنَّ Indeed,
ٱللَّهَ Allah
سَرِيعُ is swift
ٱلْحِسَابِ (in taking) account.

Al-Maaida
ٱلْيَوْمَ This day
أُحِلَّ are made lawful
لَكُمُ for you
ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ the good things;
وَطَعَامُ and (the) food
ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who
أُوتُوا۟ were given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ the Book
حِلٌّ (is) lawful
لَّكُمْ for you,
وَطَعَامُكُمْ and your food
حِلٌّ (is) lawful
لَّهُمْ for them.
وَٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتُ And the chaste women
مِنَ from
ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ the believers
وَٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتُ and the chaste women
مِنَ from
ٱلَّذِينَ those who
أُوتُوا۟ were given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ the Book
مِن from
قَبْلِكُمْ before you,
إِذَآ when
ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ you have given them
أُجُورَهُنَّ their bridal due,
مُحْصِنِينَ being chaste
غَيْرَ not
مُسَٰفِحِينَ being lewd
وَلَا and not
مُتَّخِذِىٓ ones (who are) taking
أَخْدَانٍ secret lovers.
وَمَن And whoever
يَكْفُرْ denies
بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ the faith -
فَقَدْ then surely
حَبِطَ (are) wasted
عَمَلُهُۥ his deeds
وَهُوَ and he,
فِى in
ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ the Hereafter,
مِنَ (will be) among
ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ the losers.
